Apologies to everyone who stopped by during the construction; we were trying to make the place more readable, not less.
Note to self; adding a poll screws EVERYTHING up. Apparently the javacode overrides a lot of other instructions. Not doing that again.
But now that you're here, tell me what you think? I'd had a couple of people tell me that reading the white on black gave them after images and that it wasn't pleasant, so, we picked a color that is supposed to match the tones in the picture. Is it too dark to read comfortably?
Hi, Crys! I have to admit that I always find white text on a black background to be hard to read.
ReplyDeleteI think the black text you now have on the charcoal gray background is easier to read. My preference by far is black text on white background, but that's just me. :)
I know what you mean about trying to do those polls in Blogger. I'm starting to consider them more trouble than they're worth. :(
Umm, wow. [squint] The white on black wasn't great, but I had no problem reading it. What's here now is black on dark grey, and it's barely there. Lighten up the grey a few shades and that might work, but right now it's not very pleasant to read.

Okay, my webmistress (for some reason she just called herself the webbumbler) has tweaked the backgrounds to lighter. And we decided a serif font would improve matters too. The real joy is that the header pic could stand to be lighter, and since that was a matter of a color pic that got greyscaled (I did learn something) we need to do fresh surgery on the source pic. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteMUCH better. [nodnod]

I can read the text okay (although I'd still prefer a lighter background), but your header pic is barely there - just looks like a sea of black unless I angle my screen very carefully. Mind you, I tend to read your posts in Google Reader, and only ever click through to comment.
ReplyDeleteWebsite tweaking is a pain, isn't it? You change one thing and then discover it has knock on effects. I'm still working on mine - it isn't how I want it yet...
Lovely. Much easier on the eyes. The worst I've seen is red background with black lettering or vice versa. While it's undeniably pretty, that theme does not play well with bifocals.
ReplyDeleteOne more time, nice people, because I am ready to cry for matching grays when I don't know the hex code on the original.
ReplyDeleteThe pic is lighter because I found a larger copy of the original (Eden has SO many goodies in her files! No wonder her hard drive melts regularly.) It was super dark originally because it got so blurry when I blew it up, but this is sharper at large size. So I lightened up the text panes as well.
Hey, there's a photo on top of the blog! Nice! :D

I have just learned to do all sorts of things in photoshop today, and since I remembered how wide this template is, we have a full width header now, and Pam is not playing with it any more today. Wibble.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam, you did a great job, everything looks legible and the header is really visible!
ReplyDeleteAwesome new coloring! Pam needs cookies. ;)
